The party — Boris the Boar‑Kin bounty hunter, Ione the Fennec Fox‑Kin thief, Jonesie the Alpaca‑Folk cult leader accompanied by five Racoon‑Folk, and Kagbar the Lion‑Kin outcast — all met in the frontier town of Short Beginnings in the northern Wild West of Roa.

Bound together by a simple truth — they were all broke — the group took on a bounty for a local bandit clan. Tracking them to a cave a day’s travel from town, the party dispatched several lookouts and weaker bandits before being forced to retreat by a fortified mage and a line of archers.

Satisfied that they had crippled the bandit operation, they collected proof of their kills and return to the nearby town of Short Beginnings.

The bounty payout was modest, but enough for food, drink, and a few nights’ rest. Over the next several days, the party attempts to improve their fortunes through… alternative means, such as seducing Ryna the Rat-Kin smith, Flirting with Falin, the Frog-Kin innkeeper, pickpocketing, and general mishief. All of these efforts fail spectacularly, earning the group a growing reputation for causing trouble.

With funds dwindling, the party prepared to hunt more bandits. Rumors of Dryn sightings in the region also circulated — and rewards were being offered for anyone who could uncover why the Dryn had traveled so far east. Boris’ hatred of Dryn made this quest worth the effort, even without the reward.
